Rajon killing: Charge sheet by 72hr, law minister says
Law minister Anisul Huq today said police will submit a charge sheet in 72 hours over the murder of 13-year-old boy Samiul Islam Rajon.
The minister also ruled out the possibility of any special tribunal to try the child murder that drew widespread flak from all spheres of people.
“There is no need to form a special tribunal to try Rajon killing,” he said. “The court under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act can hold trial of child killings including Rajon.”
The minister made the remarks while talking to reporters after attending a programme on unveiling the registration manual of the law ministry at Hotel Sonargaon in Dhaka.
Saying that the government is trying to bring back Kamrul, Anisul Huq said there is no legal bar to hold the trial of Rajon killing case in absentia of the main accused Kamrul Islam.
Replying to a question, he said the government is working to bring back the fugitive killers of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to the county. He however did not make any further comments on this issue.
