4 Kalyanpur detainees remanded for two days

A Dhaka court yesterday ordered four persons including a son of the owner of Taj Manzil on a two-day remand each over giving shelter to militants killed at a flat of the building.

The four are Mazharul Islam, 28, son of the owner Ataur Rahman, Mahfujul Alam, 22, Momin Uddin, 45, and Zakir Hossain, 40.

Metropolitan Magistrate Nurunnahar Yasmin passed the order when the investigators produced them before it seeking a five-day remand each, said court sources.

The four were picked up from Taj Manzil during a special drive in the capital's Kalyanpur that saw nine militants killed in police encounter.

They were shown arrested in a case filed with Mirpur Police Station, said Bazlur Rahman, sub-inspector of the station and the case's investigation officer.
