Salman Shah's 45th birth anniversary today
Today, September 19, marks the 45th birth anniversary of Salman Shah, the shooting star of Dhallywood who shone bright but left us too soon. Marking the occasion, Salman Shah Smriti Parishad will organise a daylong festival at the premises of Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) and the Jashim floor.
Salman Shah, born Shahriar Chowdhury Emon on this day in 1971 in Sylhet, began his career as a child on Bangladesh Television, and pursued singing in his teen years. But with 1993 film “Keyamot Theke Keyamot” by Sohanur Rahman Sohan, he shot to superstardom overnight with his suave charm. In the next four years he worked in another 26 films, producing hit after hit – “Tumi Amar” “Sujon Sokhi”, “Bikkhobh”, “Swopner Thikana”, “Ei Ghor Ei Songsar”, “Tomake Chai”, “Swopner Prithibi”, “Sotyer Mrittu Nei”, “Prem Piyashi” and “Buker Bhitor Agun” to name a few. Apart from films, he also worked in a handful of TV plays with great success.
