Over two months have gone by since Isamati Bridge, used by people of 15 villages, at Basail of Munshiganj's Sirajdikhan upazila, collapsed on August 12 as it had slowly been devoured over the last 10 years. With the authorities still not bothering to repair it or build a new one, locals had no option but to make a bamboo bridge over the canal on their own. They are now demanding a new bridge be built shortly because, they say, the bamboo one too could collapse anytime owing to the water body's currents. The photo was taken recently.
