Garo girl rape arrestee runs from Dhaka court
An arrestee held yesterday over rape of an ethnic girl in Dhaka’s Badda last month has fled from police custody inside court premises in the capital.
Rafsan Hossain Rubel, 25, arrested from airport rail station area yesterday, was being taken to the court of a metropolitan magistrate when he dashed.
Two policemen were suspended over the incident, Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner (media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, told The Daily Star this evening.
Badda Police Station Sub-Inspector Akram, investigation officer of the case, and two other policemen had escorted Rubel to the court this afternoon.
Rubel was kept at a room of the court from where he managed to flee around 3:30pm.
Badda Police Station Sub-inspector Emran-Ul Hasan and Constable Dipak Poddar were suspended for their negligence in this connection, Masudur Rahman said.
