A polling centre has been set up for only one voter in the upcoming district council election in Chuadanga.
Voter Hafizur Rahman is the vice-chairman of Jibonnagar upazila parishad. He is set to cast his vote at Monohorpur High School centre under Ward-14.
According to the final voter list, around 14 polling centres have been set up in the district where the number of voters varies from one to 100.
The matter came to light after the local election office had revealed the final voter list for the election scheduled to be held on December 28.
According to the list, 41 voters are set to vote at Chuadanga Technical School and College centre, 25 at Kushodanga Government Primary School, 13 at Kharagoda Government Primary School, 41 at Alamdanga High School, 39 at Ghosbila High School, 39 at Gholdari High School, 40 at Hardi Government Primary School, 39 at Asmankhali High School, 27 at Darshana Government College, 27 at Damurhuda Pilot Girls High School, 39 at Natudah High School, 41 at Jibonnagar Bilateral Pilot High School and 39 at Roypur High School centre.
District Election Officer Anisur Rahman said division of a Union Parishad into three UPs caused the situation.
He added election of two of the UPs has not been held since 2008 due to a case over demarcation.
He said if no instruction came from the Election Commission, one voter would cast his vote in one centre.
