BRACU students elect executive bodies of 13 clubs
BRAC University students cast votes to select the members of the executive body of co-curricular activity clubs at its campus in Dhaka during the Fall Semester in 2016.
A total of 13 elections were held where 7512 voters cast their votes, says a press release issued today.
General students and the members of co-curricular clubs/forums of the university initially were unwilling to accept the concept of elected governing bodies, but are now fully engaged in this democratic practice, the release read.
In the first election of BRAC University Film Club less than 500 votes were casted while the number rise to 1000 in BIZBEE election recently, clearly showing the increase in student's participation in clubs.
The university authorities strongly believe in the philosophy that an executive body member must attain a good CGPA (3.00 and above) as they will be the role model for the current and future students, the release said.
However, one may argue that a good CGPA may not ensure a good leadership but we believe a leader must have well-rounded qualities.
To ensure this, CGPA of 3.00 and above is one of the key fundamental factors of being nominated to stand for election as an executive body member.
