A Day on the Rooftop
When The Daily Star turned 26 years old, last week, we were expecting flowers, good food, a cake with melting chocolate within and of course, an opportunity to skip work for half a day. We got all that and so much more!
The entrance was filled with balloons, names and pictures of employees lined up in the lobby and photographers ready to take pictures of the distinguished guests. Not only did the day seem brighter, the weather cooler and the people working on the 5th floor happier than usual – The Daily Star office building itself looked like a hub of activities.
As the yearly tradition goes, the first, of the two celebrations, was celebrated with the staff. On the rooftop of the building, while being welcomed with bhapa, chitoi and teler pitha, a bustle of activities was happening everywhere and that too all at the same time! While the young and old were taking selfies together, the younger people picked corners trying to avoid their respective bosses. And of course, talks were going on in excited tones about the raffle draw and what list of prizes boasted.
