Schoolteacher hacked dead in Pirojpur
A schoolteacher was allegedly hacked to death and his wife critically injured by a miscreant at their house in Nazirpur upazila of Pirojpur early today.
Deceased Shamiron Majumder, 42, was an assistant teacher of Pashchim Baniari Government Primary School at Matibhanga village, our Pirojpur correspondent reports quoting victim’s family and police.
Doctors declared Shamiron dead after he was taken to the Khulna Medical College Hospital.
Police detained a person, Mantu, in connection with the attack.
His wife Sopna Mozumdar, 28, was also critically injured in the attack around 2:00am today. She is undergoing treatment at the hospital, the correspondent said.
Shamiron, son of one Shoylendornath Majumder of the village, along with his wife and two daughters was sleeping at their house during the attack.
Quoting neighbours, local journalists said the unknown miscreant entered the house of Shamiron digging a hole into the earthen-floor and fled the scene.
Walid Hossain, superintendent of Pirojur police, told the correspondent that the murder incident might have occurred over a land dispute.
