Musa’s family being brought to Dhaka for DNA test
The family members of suspected ‘Neo JMB’ leader Maynul Islam Musa, who was believed to be killed in the army operation at the militant den in Sylhet, were being brought to Dhaka for matching their DNA with the dead militants.
Three members of Musa’s family—his mother Sufia Begum, sister Kamrun Nahar and step-brother Khairul Islam, were being brought to Dhaka from Rajshahi this evening, Moazzem Hossain Bhuiyan, superintendent of police in Rajshahi, told The Daily Star.
Law enforcers suspected that Musa might have been killed in the army-led operation codenamed ‘Operation Twilight’ on March 27 at Atia Mahal in Shibbari area of Sylhet. At least eight people including four militants, four civilians and two lawmen were killed in the operation.
According to police, Musa was trying to reorganise the outfit and carrying out targeted attacks.
Musa became a key leader of “Neo JMB” following the killing of its top leaders, including Tamim, Maj (retd) Jahid and Tanvir Kaderi, in separate operations in Dhaka and Narayanganj, police said.
