At least seven people were killed and 25 injured as a passenger bus fell into  a road side ditch on Tangail-Mymensingh Highway at Ghatail upazila in Tangail tonight.

The deceased were identified as Asma Akter, 40, Chandan, 24,, Abdur Rahim, 50, Nur-a- Alam, 30, Ranju Ahmed, 40, Moniruzzaman Sabuj, 33, Shanta Begum, 25, reports our Tangail correspondent. 

The accident took place when the driver lost his control over the steering and fell into a roadside ditch around 9:45pm, leaving seven passengers dead on the spot, Amir Hossain, office-in-charge (investigation) of Ghatail Police Station, said.

Around 20 injured passengers, conditions of several of them are serious, were admitted at the upazila health complex, hospital sources said.

As conditions were deteriorated, nine of the injured were referred to different hospitals including Tangail General Hospital and Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
