Woman's World to hold makeup training session

Makeup is an essential part of our lives, be it for casual parties or for more gorgeous occasions. And in the busy schedule, going to a beauty parlour every now and then may not always be possible.

Worry not, as Woman's World is going to commence a special makeup training session on 3pm 18 May, 2017 that will quench your thirst of all your makeup related queries and problems.  For registration, call 01733226146.

Nipun's gamchha line

In order to present 'deshi' fashion to the youth, Nipun has brought in a gamchha line. The material itself has been used, instead of simply having gamchha designs as an inspiration. Patterns and designs which appeal to the youth have been incorporated. And in this hot weather, gamchha as a fabric is very suitable.

The ensemble includes a wide range of products — saris, shalwar kameez sets, kurtis, panjabis, bags, sandals, jewellery, stylish 'topis' for women, 'uttario' for men, sherwani, etc. Aside from attires, there are many lifestyle products too, such as table runners, quilts, lamp shades, etc.

Drik's endeavours

Drik Picture Library has recently moved to its new address at Panthapath. A gallery has also been built in the new premises.

Drik Gallery at Panthapath was inaugurated on April 30, 2017 with its first solo photography exhibition, titled 'The Best Years of My Life: Bangladeshi Migrants in Malaysia' (photographs and words by Shahidul Alam; curated by A S M Rezaur Rahman). The new gallery is going to remain open from 3pm-5pm every day. Drik's Panthapath address is: Union Heights (Level 7), 87 Sheikh Rasel Square, 55-2 West Panthapath, Dhaka-1205 (just beside Square Hospital).

Meanwhile, the Dhanmondi gallery will also be in operation with regular exhibitions and events.

On the other hand, a ground-breaking photography exhibition by Shahidul Alam titled 'Embracing the Other' is currently running at Aga Khan Award for Architecture 2016's winner, Bait Ur Rouf Mosque. This exhibition will run till May 10, 2017.

The idea of this exhibition - which is being held at the field outside the mosque, within the mosque premises - is to both remind the religious extremists that Islam endorses a much more inclusive culture than is practiced either within or outside mosques, and remind secularists that religion was designed as a force for social cohesion, rather than division.

Radisson Dhaka's spa sanctuary

Radisson's special spa package focuses on matching rejuvenation with impeccable spa cuisine, during a half-day/overnight package. The guests are welcomed with organic iced tea along with a spa 'amuse bouche' to get the senses started. This is followed by a choice of three customised treatments to reinvigorate the body, and afterwards, there is a cleansing bath to remove any toxins.

Guests are then escorted by their dedicated 'spa butler' to the hotel's lavish Sublime restaurant and into the careful hands of Radisson's Executive Chef Jed Archdeacon. Chef Jed has an extensive experience on spa cuisine as he had previously worked with already famous spa cuisine places such as Six Senses / COMO hotels and Ritz Carlton (ESPA), where he worked closely with dieticians and therapists to create spa cuisine menus and dietary plans.

Chef Jed has developed a genre of spa cuisine classed as 'RAW' cuisine which bases its philosophy upon preserving natural ingredients to a state where it does not exceed 32 degree Celsius in order to maintain all natural minerals and healthy enzymes.

The cuisine is to create a truly unique dining experience which looks to play with all the senses. So to match the concept of the Spa Sanctuary, the main mission is to show spa goers that healthy food can be delicious and wholesome!

The three-course menu is matched with iced 'RAW' teas/herbal infusions/fresh pressed tropical juices.

Following the lunch/dinner, guests are invited back to the spa for invigorating the skin with organic facial and therapy programme, which has been carefully planned out.

So, the first stage focuses on the more intense massage followed by a nourishing and cleansing meal and purification of iced tea and juices, then at the peak of the experience working on the 'beautifying' elements, described as beautifying from the inside out.

Finally, the guests are encouraged to finish their cleansing process with a signature iced 'RAW' tea and a selection of gluten-free vegan petit fours as a treat.

The ultimate half day/overnight getaway from the stresses of daily life will only be available at Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden!
