Various arts workshops held in Mymensingh
A five-day training workshop on classical music, tabla, poetry recitation, fine arts and contemporary dance, organised by Mymensingh Zila Shilpakla Academy, concluded at its auditorium Saturday evening.
A total of 310 child artistes from different areas of Mymensingh, Jamalpur, Sherpur, Netrakona and Tangail took part in the workshop.
The guests distributed certificates among the participants.
The trainers at the workshop were: Maruf Hossain, Tapon Sarker and Anwar Hossain for classical music; Mahmudul Hasan for tabla, Md Saidul Islam for fine arts, Fayzullah Sayeed for poetry recitation while Ariful Islam Arnob for dance, sources said.
Deputy Commissioner of Mymensingh Md Khalilur Rahman, flute maestro ustad Shahabuddin Khan, classical vocalist ustad Sunil Kumar Dhar and district cultural officer Arzo Parves addressed the concluding ceremony, among others.
Urging the artistes to be inclined to classical forms of music and musical instruments, speakers said many young talents are showing their interest for classical forms and such trend should be continued.
They also urged Shilpakala Academy and other cultural organisations here to take big steps to promote classical music.
Poet Rubina Azad and Sarwar Jahan anchored the concluding ceremony.
