Raid at Khaleda’s office based on info: Quader
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said the police raid at BNP Chief Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office was carried out following intelligence reports.
“I asked the home minister and the IGP about the sudden raid on Khaleda’s office and they have told me that police conducted the raid based on an intelligence report,” he said.
Obaidul came up with the remarks at a meeting with AL’s district office secretaries and deputy office secretaries at a community centre in Dhanmondi this noon.
Police yesterday raided BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's Gulshan office in Dhaka to seize “materials for carrying out anti-state and subversive activities”. They found nothing during the more than two-hour-long search.
Awami League presidium member Abdur Razzak, joint secretary general Dipu Moni, Jahangir Kabir Nanak and Abdur Rahman, organising secretary A F M Bahauddin Nasim and and Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, cultural affairs secretary Ashim Kumar Ukil, office secretary Abdus Sobhan Golap were among others present at the meeting.
Protesting the raid, BNP and its affiliate bodies called a nationwide demonstration today.
