14 lakh new jobs created in 1.5yrs: BBS
A total of 14 lakh new jobs have been created in the country since 2015, a survey of Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) revealed today.
According to the survey, total labour force has increased by 4.2 percent in the country since 2015, Kabir Uddin Ahmed, director of Statistics and Information Division of BBS, told a press conference at the BBS auditorium today.
The number has increased by 1.4 million persons to 62.1 million in 2015-16 as compared to 60.7 million persons in 2013, he said.
Meanwhile, the number of labour force has increased by 43.1 million persons till 2016, Kabir Uddin added.
The BBS released the results of the Quarterly Labour Force Survey (QLFS) 2015-16, the first-ever quarterly survey in it.
The QLFS was the thirteenth Labour Force Survey and was conducted in close collaboration with the World Bank for the first time.
