Imran summoned for derogatory remark on PM
A Dhaka court today summoned Gonojagoron Mancha spokesperson Imran H Sarker and cultural activist Sanatan Ullash in a defamation case filed for their derogatory remarks about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Metropolitan Magistrate SM Masud Zaman asked them to appear before his court on 16 July.
Earlier in the day, Bangladesh Chhatra League leader Golam Rabbani filed the case against the duo for making such derogatory remarks about the prime minister.
According to the case statement, Imran and Sanatan chanted defamatory slogans against the prime minister on Saturday over the removal of the statue of Greek goddess Themis from the Supreme Court premises.
The SC authorities removed the statue of the ‘Lady Justice’ early Friday and later reinstalled near the apex court's Annex Building.
