Sheikh Hasina Software Technology Park in Jessore district town is going to be inaugurated soon at a cost of Tk 305 crore, where 10,000 youths will be employed and the development of the district will take a new shape.

Project Director of the park Jahangir Alam said Bangladesh Hi-tech Park Authority (BHTPA) was established with a view to developing the Information Technology (IT) industry.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina declared on December, 27 in 2010 at a huge meeting that an IT park will be set up in the district. As per her promise, SHSTP was built at a cost of Tk 305 crore.

Twelve acres and 13 decimals of land had been acquired at Shankarpur in Jessore for the park, the project director said. A 15-storied multi-tenant building covering an area of 2.32 lakh square feet, a 12- storied residential building with 98,000 square feet area and a three-storied multipurpose building covering 25,000 square-feet area have been completed, he added.

Besides, a 33 KVA sub-station, WiFi facility, video conference centre, disaster recovery data centre, gym, walkway, spacious water body and green zone have been made in the park.

Space has been allotted to 13 IT companies, including three Japanese companies, Jahangir said, adding that 24 more companies have submitted applications for allotment.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate the park on June 30.
