Govt to build 'hate statue'
Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Huq said in parliament yesterday the government would build a statue to express hate towards the Pakistani collaborators of the 1971 Liberation War.
"We have a plan to build a hate statue to express hatred towards Razakars, Al-Badrs, Al-Shams and other collaborators of the Pakistan army.”
In a scripted answer, he also said Bangalees would never forget the brutality of the Pakistani occupation army and its local collaborators.
“The government is relentlessly working to bring out the accurate history before the new generations and imbued them with the spirit of the Liberation War,” Mozammel said.
The Pakistani occupation army and its collaborators committed one of history's worst genocides in the then East Pakistan, killing countless unarmed Bengalees during the nine- month-long war of independence.
