BSF hands over the body to BGB

Body of a BGB man, who went missing in Teesta river in Lalmonirhat yesterday, was recovered by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) this morning.

Locals at Cooch Behar district in India’s West Bengal first saw the floating body of Sumon Miah in the river, four kilometers off Bangladesh border, reports our Lalmonirhat correspondent.

Informed, BSF troops of Taroni camp at Kuchbihar recovered the body around 11:00am, said Lt Col Golam Morshed, commanding officer of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) battalion-15.

Meanwhile, Indian Border Security Force (BSF) handed over the body to BGB after holding a flag meeting in Taroni area of India’s Cooch Behar district around 4:00pm, said Lt Col Golam Morshed, commanding officer (CO) of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) of Lalmonirhat 15 Battalion.

“BSF handed over Sumon’s body to us and we will send it to his family in Habiganj district where he will be laid to rest,” he said.

Sumon Miah, 30, BGB Lance Nayek of Dahagram camp of Lalmonirhat’s Patgram upazila, went missing after he jumped into the river in Abuler Char area of Dahagram in Bangladesh for nabbing alleged cattle smugglers early yesterday, according to BGB sources.
