BNP’s Joynal Farooque sent to jail on surrender
A Dhaka court today sent BNP leader Joynal Abdin Farooque to jail when he surrendered before it in connection with four arson attack cases filed in 2015.
Metropolitan Magistrate Nurunnahar Yasmeen rejected bail petitions filed by the BNP leader in the cases.
However, the court granted him bail this morning in two other arson cases.
All the cases were filed with the Paltan Police Station in January, February and March 2015 during a non-stop anti-government agitation enforced by BNP-led 20-party alliance.
Earlier, police submitted charge sheets against Farooque and several BNP men in the cases.
Different Dhaka courts later issued arrest warrants against him as police showed him fugitive in the charge sheets.
