Fire fighters recovered two bodies from one of the three buildings in Uttara Sector 4 of Dhaka that caught fire early morning.
Identities of the deceased -- a man and a woman -- were not known immediately.
Fifteen fire fighting units were able to bring the blaze under control around 10:00am after five hours of frantic efforts, Mahmudul Huq, duty officer of fire service headquarters, told The Daily Star.
The fire started on the ground floor of the four-storey Sea Shell Chinese Restaurant around 4:00am, and later spread to the adjoining two buildings of the Chinese restaurant, said Sohel Gani, manager of sales and marketing department of the hotel.
The fire also engulfed the 'Ekushey Sweet and Bakery' outlet and branch office of ICB Islami Bank Limited located on the ground floor and the first floor of the Seashell Residence building.
Two people were also injured in the fire.
Meanwhile, a three-member probe committee led by Deputy Director Debasis Bardhwan has been formed to investigate the incident and it has been asked to submit report in 15 working days.
