Youth killed in Feni ‘gunfight’

An youth was killed in a “gunfight” with Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Feni Sadar early today.  

Deceased Md Faisal, 25, was a robber, our local correspondent reports quoting Squadron leader Shafayet Jamil Fahim, commander, of Rab-7.

On information, a Rab team conducted a raid when a group of robbers were taking preparation to commit robbery on the highway in Lemua Pol area.

The “gunfight” took place when the alleged robbers opened fire at the law enforcers around 3:00am.

Faisal and another robber Nur Hossain Selim sustained bullet injuries during the gunfight, said Rab-7 Commander Fahim.

Three of the Rab members were also injured during the incident, he added.

Faisal was taken to Feni Sadar Hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Two shot guns, two bullets and sharp weapons were recovered after the “gunfight”.
