Govt blasted for ‘failure to control’ water logging, traffic gridlock
Opposition Jatiya Party MP Kazi Feroz Rashid today criticised the government for its failure to control traffic tailback and water congestion in Dhaka.
Pointing to government’s insincerity to address the two severe problems, the JP MP, in the parliament, said, “You [government] will have nothing to say if aggrieved people take to the streets for your failure to control the traffic tailback and water congestion in Dhaka city.”
Speaking on a point of order, Feroz Rashid said the city roads submerged up to ankle to knee level water after even a short span of rain, causing untold sufferings of city commuters. “But the government is paying no heed to resolve it.”
“You are not counting on people’s power. I want to say that huge blow is waiting for the government as election is coming nearer. You will be able to know what people can do—how powerful they are. You will have to face people in the next election,” he said.
