Chikungunya: DSCC to provide free treatment at doorsteps

Free treatment will be provided at the doorsteps of Chikungunya affected people in Dhaka South City Corporation area, DSCC Mayor Sayeed Khokon said today.

The mayor also called upon the DSCC dwellers to contact to the number 09611000999 for medical aids from today.

“Health service providers will provide necessary treatment and medicine at the doorsteps,” he said.

A total of 28 urban healthcare centres, five maternity centres and two healthcare centres in DSCC area will ensure the treatment facilities from today, he said, adding that the initiative has been taken in a bid to control the menace of the mosquito-borne disease.

He said the DSCC has already initiated several awareness building programmes about infection of the disease and assured the city dwellers to bring the outbreak under control immediately.

According to a recent study of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR), a total of 23 areas in Dhaka city were identified as most risky for Chikungunya disease.

The risky areas are: Uttara-4, Uttara-9, Middle Badda, Gulshan-1, Lalmatia, Pallabi, Maghbazar, Malibagh, Rampura, Tejgaon, Banani, Nayatola, Kuril, Pirerbagh, Rayer Bazar, Shyamoli, Monipuripara, Mohammadpur, Mohakhali, Mirpur-1 and Korail Slum.
