AL man who sued UNO suspended
The ruling Awami League has suspended the local-level leader who sued the upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) of Barguna Sadar for publishing a “distorted” photo of Bangabandhu in an invitation card.
Obaidullah Saju, religious affairs secretary of Barisal district and president of Barisal Lawyers' Association, has been suspended, Biplob Barua, deputy office secretary of the Awami League, told The Daily Star this evening.
According to him, the Awami League Local Government Nomination Board came up with the decision after holding a meeting at Gono Bhaban, the official residence of the prime minister.

Tariq Salman, upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) of Barguna Sadar, was sued after he printed the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, painted by a child, on an invitation card.
Saju filed the Tk 5 crore deformation case last month.
The case triggered a social media outcry with many praising the UNO's move of placing Bangabandhu's portrait painted by a child on the invitation card.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina herself criticised the action and said the portrait and the UNO’s initiative had deserved recognition and reward.
