DND waterlogging: Shamim Osman threatens hunger strike
Local MP Shamim Osman yesterday threatened to go on a fast unto death until the start of the steps taken by the government to resolve the waterlogging problem inside Dhaka-Narayanganj-Demra (DND) dam.
He came up with the threat while addressing a discussion marking the founding anniversary of Swechchhasebak League organised by Narayanganj city unit at Chashara Shaheed Minar.
At least 20,000 residents inside the dam have been suffering for the few months due to the waterlogging. Houses, educational institutions, mosques and madrasah remained submerged.
Shamim Osman said although the DND project has already been passed, the work is yet to begin.
Mentioning that he will ask the minister concerned as to when the work will begin, he said he will go on the hunger strike on the DND link road if necessary.
