NHRC concerned over increasing trend of women violation
National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) today expressed its grave concern over the increasing trend of violence against women in the country and held social unrest and culture of impunity responsible for such offences.
“Social unrest and the trend of not finishing trial proceedings on time are responsible for such crime,” Kazi Reazul Hoque, chairman of the NHRC came up with observation in a press statement today.
The incidents of rape, repression and violent attack against women are increasing alarmingly in the country and some people are carrying out the heinous activities under political and administrative shelter, he added.
Citing several instances including Bogra college student rape, suicide of Shariatpur rape victim, the NHRCH chief underscored the need for immediate measures to uproot the social menace.
The rights body also called up on the law enforcement agencies to strengthen their measures against such crimes.
“Alongside this, we hope that the law enforces would bring all rapists under trial for ensuring their exemplary punishment” he also said.
