Current nets worth Tk 58cr seized

Bangladesh Coastguard seized 2.88 crore metres of illegal fishing nets worth Tk 58 crore from the old part of Dhaka today.

The coastguard members in a joint operation with the officials of Dhaka district administration and fisheries department raided eight shops at Gausia Market in Mugtuli area and recovered the current nets in 297 sacks, a press release says.

After the nine-hour long operation that ended at 2:00 pm, the authorities burnt the nets in front of the public.
