Food minister demands removal of chief justice

Food Minister Qamrul Islam today demanded removal of Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha, reports Bangla daily Prothom Alo.

If the chief justice possesses morality, he will step down. Otherwise, the lawyers will wage movement against him, the daily reported quoting Minister Qamrul.

The minister made the comment at a discussion of Bangabandhu Awami Lawyers’ Association held at Dhaka Lawyers’ Association building in Dhaka today.

The discussion was organised to commemorate the 42nd death anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and observance of National Mourning Day.

If minimum sense prevails in him, the chief justice will resign on his own, Qamrul said, adding that if he does not do so, lawyers will wage a tough movement against him from September, the daily reports.
