The English Town of Bournemouth
Imagine frolicking on a sandy beach by the bluish water of a boundless sea. Chilly pleasant breeze blowing; noisy seagulls flying over; the beauty of the vistas inexplicable and beyond description unless and until experienced firsthand!
The United Kingdom, one of the most beautiful island nations in the world, has lots of beautiful beaches and coastal towns along the English Channel. As summer approaches, the beaches in England start getting a lively boisterous ambience. Tourists from all around the world go out for daytrips in droves along the sea sides. Bournemouth, a coastal town with a long beach along the south-western coast of England, is one such tourist destination. The beach is around seven miles long and a part of the Jurassic coast, which presents 185 million years of earth's geological history. It is a world heritage site declared by UNESCO.
The other day, I, along with my brother and some other friends, started our journey from London to Bournemouth. It took around two hours by car. Those who prefer to travel by train, the south-western bound service which commutes from London Waterloo tube station to Bournemouth direct is a good alternative.
As we arrived there, we had a pleasant stroll by the sea; the whole beach has a nicely built promenade along its coast. The sandy beach itself has a surprise — large crystals that do not stick to the shoes making walking on the sandy shore quite an experience!
For those who wish to take a dip in the chilly water, it is important to look out for the flag rules before divining into the sea. There are yellow and red flags put up to mark safe zones for swimming.
The Bournemouth pier, named after the place, is more than 250 metres in length. It has restaurants, resting benches, and an amusement park with the special ride of ski-lift from the top of the pier to down to the beach.
A big Ferris wheel is nearby; built in such a place where the riders can get to see most of the landmark views of the town, such as the vast sea, pier, Bournemouth big balloon, St Peter's Church steeple and the shopping area. The wheel rotates three times for a one ride-ticket.
Bournemouth usually has fine weather, which makes this place ideal for tourists. The hospitality industry is also well developed, so be it a daytrip or jaunt, vacationers get it on the full spirit of fun and enjoyment at Bournemouth.
