Finance Minister AMA Muhith today said he would file defamation cases against two daily newspapers for publishing a report saying that “Muhith sought family ticket from China”.

The minister said this at a press conference at his secretariat office in Dhaka today.

Two defamation cases of Tk100 crore would be filed against English daily The Asian Age and Bangla newspaper Daily Amader Orthoneeti each for publishing reports about him.

The Asian Age today published the report with a headline that ‘Muhith seeks family ticket from China’ while Daily Amader Orthoneeti had published a report on the same issue on August 13.

The minister, at the briefing, termed the report as “false and baseless”.

“I, even my family members, have never sought any air ticket from any company or organisation. I always have gone abroad with government cost as it has been allowed in the government rules,” Muhith added.
