Rakib ousted in first round
Grand Master Abdullah Al Rakib was eliminated from the Chess World Cup in Tblisi, Georgia after losing both bouts of his first round game against World No. 7 GM Nakamura Hikaru of USA.
The Bangladeshi GM lost the first game against the American on Sunday. Playing with black pieces, he resigned after 29 moves. In the reverse fixture on Monday, Rakib played with white pieces and conceded defeat after 27 moves.
Rakib, playing his first World Cup, had qualified as Asian Zone 3.2 champion which was held in Nepal in March.
