AL team to hold talks with China over Rohingya issue: Quader
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said a delegation of the party will hold discussion with Chinese leader over Rohingya issue during its upcoming visit to China.
"Discussion is being held in the United Nations over Rohingya issue. So this discussion will also be held during the Awami League delegation's visit to China," he told a press conference after a meeting at the Awami League (AL) president's Dhanmondi political office.
The meeting was organised ahead of the China visit of an Awami League delegation.
Quader, also minister for road transport and bridges, said China did not deny the issue. "For this instance, the UN unanimously has given statement over the Rohingya issue," he added.
He said they did not get any proof that BNP is eager to create national unity over the Rohingya issue in the interest of country.
The Awami League general secretary said BNP is hatching conspiracy to create divisions among the people over the Rohingya issue. "BNP is jealous as the entire world has been lauding the steps of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for hosting the persecuted Rohingya people," he added.
Blasting BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia for staying abroad when the nation is facing the huge influx of Rohingya refugees, Quader said a patriotic political leader cannot stay out of the country at the time of national crisis.
Awami League Presidium Member Lt. Col. (retd.) Muhammad Faruq Khan, Joint General Secretary Dr Dipu Moni, International Affairs Secretary Dr. Shammi Ahmed, Forest and Environment Affairs Secretary Delwar Hossain, Legal Affairs Secretary Advocate SM Rezaul Karim, Education and Human Resource Affairs Secretary Shamsunnahar Chapa and Deputy Office Secretary Barrister Biplab Barua joined the meeting.
