Bangladesh remained on top of the table in the SAFF U-18 Championship after handing a 2-0 defeat to Maldives at the Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu today.

Saikat Mahmud Munna and Jafar Iqbal scored the goals in the first half as Bangladesh eased to the victory after having dominated the islanders for the entire period.

While Munna's opening goal was a bit sloppy, last match's two-goal hero Jafar Iqbal scored a spectacular goal in the one-sided affair.

The win took Bangladesh to six points from two matches. Hosts Bhutan, who had earlier in the day, beaten Nepal 1-0, are also on six points but trail Bangladesh on goal-difference.

Bangladesh will next take Nepal on September 25.
