Myanmar carries out Rohingya cleansing: Jordan Queen

Visiting Jordan's Queen Rania Al-Abdullah today blamed Myanmar government for carrying out ethnic cleansing of Rohingya Muslims in Rakhine in a planned way.

"Rohingya Muslims are being repressed, tortured and exiled in a planned way. It is a rare example of the ethnic cleansing," the queen told reporters after visiting Rohingya camps at Kutupalang in Ukhia upazila of Cox's Bazar this noon.

Queen Rania also expressed her strong condemnation to Myanmar for such heinous acts of barbarism and called upon the world leaders to stand beside the Rohingyas so that they are not denied of justice.

Alongside, the queen also thanked Bangladesh government for providing shelter to the Rohingyas fled in the face of the ethnic cleansing in Rakhine of Myanmar.

"I express my gratitude to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as she set up an example of humanity by providing shelter to the Rohingya Muslims," she added.

Claiming that Myanmar has committed crimes against humanity by resorting repression and oppression, Queen Rania said, "Jordan will remain beside the Rohingya Muslims."

On her arrival, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam and State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki received the Jordanian Queen at Cox's Bazar airport around 11:00am, reports our Cox's Bazar staff correspondent.

Later, she visited two Rohingya camps and talked to the people, who fled to Bangladesh following persecution in the Rakhine state of Myanmar.

More than 600,000 Rohingyas people have so far taken shelter to Bangladesh since August 25.
