BNP leader MK Anwar’s janaza held, burial tomorrow
BNP Standing Committee Member MK Anwar passed away at his residence in Dhaka early today. He was 86.
He breathed his last around 1:30am at his residence on Elephant Road, Sayrul Kabir Khan, a staff of BNP chairperson's media wing, told The Daily Star this morning.
The veteran BNP leader left behind his two sons and a daughter to mourn his death.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed deep condolence at the death of MK Anwar.
Fakhrul and other BNP leaders visited MK Anwar’s residence in Dhaka city around 9:45am.
The first namaj-e-janaza of the BNP leader was held at Kataban Mosque in the capital around 10:00am.
The second janaza was held around 12noon at BNP’s Nayapaltan headquarters and the third around 1:30pm at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, BNP sources said.
After the namaj-e-janaza, his body has been kept at mortuary in Birdem Hospital in Dhaka.
The BNP leader’s body will be taken his home district Comilla tomorrow. His fourth namaj-e-janaza will be held in Titas upazila of Comilla after Zohr prayers and the last one in Homna upazila after Asar prayers, Sayrul Kabir said.
He will be buried in his family graveyard in Homna upazila tomorrow.
