5 Buet students hurt in clash with DU
Five students of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) were injured during a clash with the students of Dhaka University (DU) at Palashi intersection in Dhaka last night.
Sources at DU campus said some Buet students confined Imran of DU, a resident of Zahurul Haque Hall, to a room of Titumir hall on Buet campus Friday afternoon.
Imran was confined following a incident when a Buet student was beaten up allegedly by some students of Zahurul Haque hall yesterday afternoon, the sources said.
On information, DU Zahurul Hall students along with some BCL men rescued Imran and went on rampage in Titumir Hall last night, said Buet’s BCL President Shubhra Joti.
They attacked Buet students, leaving five of them injured, said Shubhra Joti.
As Buet students confined a student of Zahurul Haque the halls student went Titumir Hall to free Imran but the rivals attacked them, DU BCL activists said.
The injured --Sourav, Abdullah Debba, Mahuri and Sadman-- were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
DU proctor Dr AKM Golam Rabbani said they formed a probe committee to investigate the incident.
