No polls under Hasina: Khaleda
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia today said no election will be held under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and challenged her arch-rival to hold the national election under a neutral polls-time government.
“No fair poll will be held or can be held under Sheikh Hasina,” Khaleda came up with the remarks while addressing a rally at the historic Suhrawardi Udyan in Dhaka this afternoon.
“Face the electoral challenge under a neutral government,” Khaleda said.
Throwing a challenge to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Khaleda said the next government will be formed on the people’s mandate. “We don’t fear the people.”
The former prime minister also called for a national unity and said the path of the democratic practice will not be smooth without it. She also underscored the need for deployment of army with magistracy power so that the next general election is held in a free, fair and credible manner.
Khaleda also blasted the government for “creating barricades” at all entry points of the capital and said the ruling Awami League fears the “National Revolution and Solidarity Day”.
Claiming that no fair and credible polls can be held under supervision of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Khaleda said people’s right to vote freely will have to be given back by holding the next general election under a neutral government.
‘Agency pressured Sinha to quit office’
About the resignation of the chief justice, Khaleda said Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha has been “made ill” and “forcefully sent abroad” on health ground.
“Later, agency men forced him (Sinha) to resign from his post,” Khaleda alleged. She said that the chief justice wanted to return home, but he was barred by “agency men”.
