Sharpe reveals what Sir Alex said after Cantona Kung Fu kick
Former Manchester United manager Lee Sharpe reveals what was said by Manchester United’s legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson after Eric Cantona’s Kung Fu-style kick on a fan.
Former Manchester United player Patrice Evra agreed to leave Marseille by ‘mutual consent’ after similar kick to a fan just recently.
Evra was also banned by UEFA from all European tournaments until June 30, 2018 and fined 10,000 euros. However what was different about Evra’s incident was that he kicked one of Marseille’s own fans.
22 years ago, United’s legendary player Cantona had went into the stands to attack a Crystal Palace fan.
The Frenchman however is adored by Manchester United fans due to his charismatic persona. Sharpe, who was an United player back then has now revealed that Sir Alex was surprisingly soft on the Frenchman after his notorious kick.
In 1995, after a poor result away at Crystal Palace, Sir Alex was in one of his trademark moods.
"The manager comes in and he's absolutely fuming," Sharpe said in a speech filmed by Twitter user @Duncanreddevil.
"The door smashes off the back of its hinges. The jacket is off, he's got the short sleeves rolled up; steam coming out of his ears and frothing at the mouth.
"There's benches in the middle of the room with shirts and balls to be signed. Cups of tea and plates of sandwiches. They're sent flying everywhere.
"We're getting scalded and getting egg sandwiches down the back of our necks. We look at each other, thinking, '[Curse word] hell, Cantona is getting it here!'
"And then he starts, the manager. '******* Pallister, you can't head anything, you can't tackle. Incey, where the **** have you been? Sharpey, my grandmother runs faster than you! ... You're all a ******* disgrace.
"Nine o'clock, tomorrow morning, I'm going to run your ******* ***** off in training. ******* shocking. And Eric.... [he says in a much softer tone] you can't go round doing things like that son'."
Fair to say that Evra did not have the rub of the green like Cantona did in his time.
