Meet the king of kababs: The Great Kabab Factory
Here to provide us with an authentic Indian kabab experience, The Great Kabab Factory has made its way into the heart of Bangladesh after spreading its smoky charred goodness in places such as Thailand and Oman. Bringing this exceptional franchise to the country for the very first time was the initiative of SR Hospitality.
The Great Kabab Factory is an Indian restaurant that was born in 1996 in India. It opened its first outlet here in Dhaka last year at Jamuna Future Park, and a new one very recently in Gulshan.
The Great Kabab Factory serves 450 different kinds of flavoursome kebabs that are loved by people all over India, and now by people here as well. Every day is a new experience with The Great Kabab Factory, where you will meet a new menu each day.
They are also the first in Bangladesh to introduce table service from a buffet, which essentially means that you do not have to get up for a serving. Instead, everything will be brought to you, even though it is a buffet. However, just like a buffet, you will be served unlimited amounts of whichever course you desire. So the only time you have to get your hands dirty is when you bite down the juicy kebabs. The entire mess of having to take numerous dishes in one plate, and then ruining the taste of all will never happen again, not to mention that this saves a lot of wastage, which is common in buffets.
The menu consists of two parts, vegetarian and non-vegetarian, from the starters to dessert. The entire course starts off with fresh and crunchy appetisers like assorted fruit salads, followed by six different kebabs that will be served to your table one at a time, starting with the famous Galauti and the Burrah kebab. Next comes the main course which comprises of the two different biryanis, daal, Indian breads and the curry-of-the-day. Being an Indian restaurant, you will not find your typical dessert menu here. What one will find is an array of delectable Indian desserts ranging from jalebis, halwas and kulfi that complement the spicy Indian main courses like no other. If you wish to go back to starters even after dessert, ask away, since the entire dining works just like a buffet, but in a much neater way.
Lastly for a cool drink, one can always try out their infused mocktails from the Strawberry Star-Anise Mojito to Spicy Guava, something will surely tingle your taste buds. And do not forget to try their traditional masala cha while you are at it.
A Vegetarian's Paradise
If you thought only non-vegetarians are to enjoy juicy kebabs, well think again. The Great Kabab Factory also holds numerous vegetarian dishes and kebabs like the vegetarian Galauti or the Tandoori Pineapple, and that includes the buffet as well, so no one is left out of the kebab experience.
The Signature Dish
When the Mughals were ruling over India, they had their personal chefs the Rikabdars and Bawarchis. One such chef created a kebab for his aged king Nawab Wajid Ali Shah who loved kebab but had no teeth. It was soft, sublime and it melted in his mouth, which literally translates to 'Galauti', and hence the signature dish of The Great Kabab Factory, the Galauti Kabab was born. Today when you taste this historic kebab even with teeth, you will know how it got its name.
The Secret Recipe
Like all great franchises, The Great Kabab Factory too has secret recipes for their 450 different kebabs, and this is what makes them stand out from all other kebab stores in the country. Most of the recipes originated from families in India who have been passing down these combinations for generations. Here in Dhaka, the dishes are prepared by Indian chefs and sous chefs using the very same recipes, so you know that the tastes are authentic. The secret ingredients and condiments come in special packages, the contents of which are classified even to most staff, to keep their authenticity intact. Their mouth-watering kebabs are prepared in numerous ways, be it shallow fried in a tawa or steamed in pots, and of course grilled to perfection, you will find it all here, and all with a signature and unique taste of its own.
An Alluring Ambience
Never been to India? No worries. Before officially digging into the kebabs, take a moment to sit, relax, and absorb the exceptional ambience that will make one feel like they are sitting inside the same restaurant in India. The silver cutlery with its swirling handles, bright purple hanging lights, the teal comfortable chairs and tinted blue glasses give off a cool marine vibe. While the barren walls decorated with brass antiquities and metal chair ornaments create a rustic industrials décor. Everything here has been brought right from India so you can not only eat the kebabs, but get the experience along with it.
Managing Director of SR Hospitality Asif Rabbani also said, "We get our inspiration from the traditional family recipes in India. We want to share authentic Indian kebabs that you cannot find anywhere else in Bangladesh. We also have a lot of Indian customers because they are aware of the franchise and how good it is. What makes the kebabs here better are that they are served straight from the oven to the table."
"We are very happy to be able to bring such a great franchise into the country, and we have received a lot of positive response and love from the people here. We hope it grows further," he added.
Having such a franchise in the country with such phenomenal menus, it would be a shame to miss out on these different kebabs. If you are looking forward to it, a buffet lunch will cost Tk 769++ and a buffet dinner Tk 1,099++.
