Ruling Awami League (AL) lawmaker from Sundarganj constituency Golam Mostafa Ahmed was “critically” injured in a road accident in Delduar upazila of Tangail this afternoon.

A private car carrying Mostofa collided head-on with a bus on Dhaka-Tangail highway in Natiapara area around 5:00pm, leaving him “critically injured”, SM Mizanul Haque, officer-in-charge of Mirzapur Police Station, told our Tangail correspondent.

Three others including his nephew and driver were also injured as the private car was heading towards Gaibandha from Dhaka, the police official said.

Mostofa was immediately rushed to nearby Jamuki Health Complex. Later, he was referred to National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital in Dhaka with serious head injuries.

Contacted, Khan Mohammad Nurul Amin, the deputy commissioner of Tangali, said the lawmaker sustained head injuries and was bleeding excessively from his nose and mouth.
