6 Bangladeshi students in Int’l Junior Science Olympiad
Six Bangladeshi students will attend the 14th International Junior Science Olympiad in Netherlands, scheduled to be held from December 3-12.
Society for the Popularisation of Science, Bangladesh made the announcement at a press conference at a hotel in Dhaka city this afternoon.
The six students were selected from among 5,500 participants through Bangladesh Junior Science Olympiad which began on July.
The participants are: KM Sadman Mahmud of Notre Dame College, Ahmed Nafis Farhan of Willes Little Flower Higher Secondary School and College, Rubayat Jalal of Rajshahi University School, Imtiaz Tanvir Rahim of Barisal Zilla School, Muwabbar Sarwar Nibir of Narayanganj Ideal School, and Absar Khan Siam of Motijheel Ideal School and College.
A total of 50 countries will compete in the under-16 Olympiad. During the competition, they will sit for written, multiple choice question and practical examination.
The Bangladeshi team will leave Dhaka for Netherlands on December 2.
Speaking at the press conference, eminent educationist Prof Muhammed Zafar Iqbal said science is very important for children as it helps them to think logically.
