3 held with 7kg gold at Dhaka airport

Three persons have been detained at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for possession gold bars weighing 7.37 kilogrammes and worth over Tk 3.5 crore.

The detainees were identified as Ibrahim, Md Mohsin and Rokonuzzaman, said a press release floated to the media by the preventive team of Dhaka customs.

Mohammad Sydul Islam, assistant commissioner of Dhaka customs, said the gold was carefully concealed inside the handle of their trolley.

Based on specific intelligence, customs officers frisked the trio, who came in from Bangkok via Chittagong, and seized the gold last night, the press release said.

According to Sydul Islam, the gold is worth over Tk 3.5 crore.
