How to navigate Dhaka on 31st

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has given a set of instructions for traffic movement and city dwellers on 31st night to celebrate the New Year 2018.

Instructions for Gulshan, Banani and Baridhara area:

Tejgaon Industrial area-Phoenix Road crossing, Banani 11 road crossing, Chairman Bari crossing, Notun Bazaar crossing, Shooting Club, Badda Link road, DOHS Baridhara-United Hospital crossing will be made off-limits to enter the areas from 8:00pm.

The commuters will be allowed to enter the areas using Kamal Ataturk Avenue (Kakoli Crossing) and Amtoli Crossing (Mohakhali).

But all the above mentioned routes will be kept open to get out of the areas. Besides, DMP requested the residents of the areas to return home by 8:00pm.

Dhaka University areas

Entrance to Dhaka University areas from Palashi crossing, Bhaskorjo crossing, Bakshi Bazar crossing, Ramna Chattar crossing, Doel Chattar crossing and Shahidullah hall crossing will be restricted after 6:00pm.

Resident teachers, students and staff are requested to enter the university area through Nilkhet and Shahbagh crossing after showing valid identities from 6:00pm, December 31, 2017 to 6:00am, January 1, 2018.

Any vehicles from High Court point will be able to go out after turning left from Doel Chattar and passing through Shahidullah hall and Chankharpul crossing.

Hatirjheel

Nobody will be allowed to stay at Hatirjheel after 8:00pm.

Bars

All bars will remain closed after 6:00pm.
