12 cops closed for stalking female student, beating brother in Khulna

Twelve policemen were closed for allegedly stalking a female student and beating her brother in Batiaghata upazila of Khulna today.

The authorities closed the policemen and attached them to the district police line, Abdur Rashid, officer-in-charge of the District Special Branch (SB) of Police, told our Khulna correspondent.

“Some policemen of the Khairabad Baintola police outpost often misbehave with my 10th grader daughter on her way to a coaching center,” Mujibrur Rahman, father of the female student, told our correspondent.

Noticing the incident, his son Tareq Mahmud went to the police outpost to inform the matter to their in-charge, Rahman said.

“As Mahmud came back to my shop near the police outpost, the policemen went to the shop and swooped on my son and beat him up severely. They also vandalised my shop,” the victim’s father also said.

On information, locals rushed to the spot and besieged the police outpost. Later, local police high ups rushed to the spot and took the situation under control, OC Abdur Rashid said.

A tough departmental action will be taken against the policemen if their crime is proved, the police official said.

Mahmud was taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital.
