Following Neymar’s world record 222m euro transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona are more concerned about the buy-out clauses they put into players’ contract.

Neymar’s transfer to PSG changed the European football transfer market drastically and Barca have splashed big sums for their two new attacking talents – Ousmane Dembele and Philippe Coutinho.

The former Liverpool star is an exciting addition to a team already boasting attacking talents like Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta and Luis Suarez. Dembele too has the potential to create ripples in the footballing world if he thrives in the Barca setup.

Annual market value of players were released by the CIES Football Observatory, whose mission is to advance the frontiers of knowledge for the sustainable development of football worldwide.

According to their report, Barca’s four ‘pokers’ – Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Ousmane Dembele and latest recruit Coutinho, are worth almost 550 million euros.

Messi is the most valued at 202.2m, followed by Luis Suarez (128.7m), Coutinho (123m) and Dembele (96m). Because Barca wanted to protect their agenda in this highly dynamic market, they decided to raise the release clause of these stars to stop them from leaving like Neymar.

The cumulative sum of their four stars stands at 1700 million Euros. Messi alone has a buy-out clause of 700 million Euro, a figure that is likely to trigger FFP’s financial regulations upon any club which wants the Argentine star.

Suarez’s buy-out clause is lowest with a 200 million Euros clause put in his name while Dembele and Coutinho’s buy-out clause is set at 400 million Euros.

The cumulative figure of 1700 million Euros, converted to Bangladesh currency, stands at roughly TK sixteen thousand crore, 833 lakh.
