SC legal aid committee seeks list of old prisoners

The Supreme Court Legal Aid Committee today sent a letter to five jails including Dhaka Central Jail seeking a list of the prisoners aged above 75 years and details of them.   

The other prisons -- Kashimpur-1, Kashimpur-2, Kashimpur-3 and Kashimpur-4 -- are situated in Gazipur.

The committee also asked for relevant updated information of the prisoners who are under trial or convicts so that it can deliver legal aid to them.

The SC committee believes that the jail authorities’ cooperation in its establishing legal aid service will continue, Ripon Paul Sku, coordinator of the committee, told The Daily Star.
