Fog halts Paturia-Daulatdia ferry services

Ferry services on Paturia-Daulatdia route in the Padma River have remained suspended due to poor visibility caused by dense fog this morning.

The authorities of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) suspended the ferry services and plying of the water vessels on the route since 7am due to blurred visibility caused by thick fog, said Mohiuddin Russell, manager (Commercial) of BIWTC at Aricha.

Two ferries remained stuck in the middle of the river with around one hundred vehicles and passengers on board.

The ferry services will resume once the visibility returns, he added.
