A woman, who was discharged from the burn and plastic surgery unit of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on November 22 last year, is yet to leave the hospital as no attendants have come to take her home.

Rakhi, 40, who apparently has difficulty to remember things, was admitted to the burn unit with a leg injury that required a surgery on July 7, 2017.

According to her file at DMCH, Rakhi had an accident on the day in Mugda area of Dhaka and locals got her admitted to the burn unit of the hospital.

Now, Rakhi who has already been discharged from the hospital nearly three months ago, now living on the diets allocated for other patients at the hospital with no one coming to attend her and she has nowhere to go, our staff correspondent reports visiting Rakhi at the hospital.

DMCH’s burn and plastic surgery unit has forwarded an application to the hospital director to rehabilitate Rakhi at a government shelter.

DMCH Director Brig Gen AKM Nasiruddin told The Daily Star that they have already contacted with Department of Social Welfare and process was underway to send Rakhi at a government shelter in Faridpur.
