Ensemble Theatre marks 100th staging of “Court Martial”
Ensemble Theatre, a leading theatre troupe of Mymensingh, staged "Court Martial" at Mymensingh Zila Shilpakala Academy auditorium on Friday evening.
This was the 100th staging of the play by the group in Mymensingh and many other places of the country, making it the first such milestone for a Mymensingh-based theatre group,.
The play, based on the Liberation War, depicted oppression on pro-liberation forces by the collaborators of occupation Pakistan army. Written by Swadesh Deepak and adapted by SM Solaiman, the play was directed by Md Abul Monsur, president of Ensemble Theatre.
The group has undertaken a year-long programme to stage plays every Friday themed "Friday Theatre Festival', roping in other groups of the town.
Marking the centenary performance, flying of paper lanterns, fireworks and launching ceremony of a book were also held. Twenty artistes of the group were also honoured at the ceremony.
Earlier, a discussion was held. Deputy Commissioner of Mymensingh Md Khalilur Rahman, Mymensingh Zila Parishad chairman Prof Yusuf Khan Pathan and mayor of Mymensingh Municipality Ekramul Haque Titu addressed the discussion with advocate Moazzem Hossain Babul, adviser of the group in the chair.
